As a Software Development Engineer, you will help design and implement systems in partnership with other teams to make Capital Group’s investment process measurably more efficient and effective. You will own major services, drive adoption of best-in-class technologies, and launch critical features to impact over $2 trillion in assets under management. You will build front-end user facing applications and APIs that power them in the latest cloud technologies. You will act as a force multiplier, bringing your expertise to all aspects of software development; from design, implementation, code reviews, and deployments.

The ideal candidate for this engineering role will be passionate about our team’s mission of applying modern engineering methods to and quantitative methods to drive superior long-term investment results.

  • You have 6+ years of professional software development experience in at least one modern language such as Java, Go, Typescript, JavaScript, or Python with strong object oriented and functional design skills with a strong understanding of common design patterns. 
  • You have 2+ years of iOS native development preferably with SwiftUI.
  • You own the systems you design and build. You bring a high level of craftsmanship to your work, ensuring integrity in both form and function. 
  • You bring a cloud-first approach to designing and implementing robust, distributed, and scalable services for data processing and user facing applications from ideation to production. 
  • Experience with low-latency Software Oriented Architecture (SOA) designs. You have a hands-on experience with AWS.  
  • Strong understanding of web development principles, including HTML, CSS, DOM manipulation, and responsive design.  
  • You are proficient with at least one front-end framework like VueJS, React, Angular. 
  • You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and high emotional intelligence with the ability to adjust communication approach & style to accommodate a variety of technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • You have a track record of successfully delivering enterprise-grade software into production.

Southern California Base Salary Range: $171,968-$292,346

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
